May 17 (Day 61) - Trail Days in Damascus, VA

I wandered around town for most of the day, visiting vendor booths and socializing with other hikers.

As I previously mentioned, the businesses in Damascus seem more interested in raping a hiker's wallet than in celebrating the Trail and those that traverse it.  A poignant example, the Blue Blaze Cafe moved to a limited menu and raised the prices on everything, almost double of the previous week's prices in some cases.  No bueno.

Also, our chill camp area seemed to be taking on refugees from the frat party that was tent city.  We also drew some disrespectful folks that stood amid our tents, drinking moonshine and yelling into the wee hours of the morning.  The courtesy shown one another on the Trail has certainly dissipated, here in town.
